It has been some time I have updated my blog. So I thought of writing one and nothing better than the area in which you work.

Sometime back I got this error “Error 0x80070005. Failed to create an instance of empty child package” in a new machine and broke my head for quite some time. I remember when I got this error, I tried searching in the internet but it was not of help. Hope this blog post is going to help somebody. You are most likely to get this error in a new machine which was not used previously for SSIS processing. This indicates that something was missed during the server build or machine set up phase.

Let us jump to the error. Obviously I got the error for a master-child combination package which is evident from the error description.
